Artist, designer and Stilelibero founder Ilaria Perra launched the company in 2005 with her creation of THE original cork yoga mat; A pioneering product born from a desire to replace more commonly used, less eco-friendly materials with a more sustainable option in keeping with her spiritual practices and love of the natural world. This innovation sparked industry-wide acclaim and has been featured in esteemed publications such as Vogue, The Guardian, and many health and wellness magazines over the years.

This original product concept has since been widely copied but never repeated with such quality and attention to detail.

New beginnings:A chance meeting between Ilaria and Matthew at Decorex 2021 led to a partnership bonded by their love for art, fashion, and interiors. Their inaugural collaboration, The Impressioni handmade rug Collection, marked the rebirth of Stilelibero, as Art for Design ∼ Fashion for Interiors, blending Ilaria's artistic flair with Matthew's bespoke product design and production expertise.

Their joint venture rapidly expanded into luxury fashion and interior product design, featuring fabrics, cushions, lampshades, cashmere shawls and throws, beautiful printed silks and much more. Ilaria Perra, an Italian multi-media artist, holds diplomas in Art & Design and graphic design from Chelsea College of Art and Shillington College respectively, along with a BA in Fashion Womenswear from Central Saint Martins.

At the latter, she has gained over 15 years of experience, teaching CAD for Fashion Design as an associate lecturer. Her fashion illustrations have appeared in several Fashion Design books.

In 2005, she pioneered the world’s first Cork Yoga Mat and in founded her design company, Stilelibero.

Matthew is a highly skilled handmade rug and textile designer, who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for art and design to the business.

With over 35 years of working within the interior design industry, Matthew has designed, supplied, and installed bespoke handmade carpets and rugs to the interiors market, earning a reputation for his exceptional talent and attention to detail.

In 2009, he formed Matthew Wailes (London) Ltd, and has since worked on numerous prestigious projects for both high-end residential and commercial projects, collaborating with some of the most well-known interior design icons and brands.

Matthew is a specialist in product design, production, composition, and suitability, and brings a wealth of knowledge to every project.

His expertise extends to project management, consulting, and installation, ensuring that each project is executed flawlessly from start to finish.
